This past weekend one of our team members made the trip down south to Fort Worth, Texas. An avid runner she finds that running for charities is probably the most exciting aspect of every experience. We thought we would share some a picture she brought back with her. There was an estimated 28,000 runners this weekend. Favorite Memories

Styles are continually changes throughout the years. Style is much different than when we were children. Growing up in the years where oranges, reds, and dark yellows was normal and they were everywhere. But, there's one piece of furniture I remember very vividly and have such wonderful memories of.

My parents owned this old solid wood rocking chair. This was the place where I was rocked to sleep as a baby. Where I would sit and play with dolls and where I soon would watch TV from. As time passed I still find myself loving rocking chairs or swivel chairs. The motion relaxes me and I enjoy TV or other activities even more. Each time I visit my parents it's a walk down memory lane.

Carpet or Hardwood?

Recently spent the weekend visiting friends and our morning coffee time conversation took a turn from the normal and entered the world of home furnishings and decor. We all discussed which is better, carpet or hardwood flooring.

After having this conversation multiple times I've come down to the fact that it really doesn't matter because we all have a personal preference and that's what really matters. Yes, there are pro's and con's to each one but your home is your space. It's a reflection of your personality. It's the place where you need to be the most relaxed and vulnerable. If you can't be comfortable in your own home where can you be?

Well this particular conversation quickly turned to I will never have carpet in my home. They've come to the conclusion that having kids was not conducive to having carpet ever. Now, I was raised with carpet in the home my entire life and do not have a probably with it.

For me personally it really depends on the room. While hardwood flooring looks great in the living room and dining room I prefer carpet in the bedrooms. The great thing about hardwood flooring is that you can add an area rug to the room which allows comfort and a splash of accent.

What's Your Favorite Space In Your Home?

Everyone has a favorite space that they just love spending time in when they are at home. It brings peace and allows you to relax just a bit more than any other area in your home?

Sometimes we are so worried about decorating the areas that our guest are in more than our own spaces. But, if we would take the time to decorate for ourselves we would fall in love with our home again! Entertaining and decorating with beautiful home decor for others is fun and exciting, but we can't forget ourselves. So, what's your favorite room?

For me I find the little nook off the living room that is sitting right in front of the windows that allows me to enjoy my morning coffee or green tea just a bit more than if I was anywhere else in the house.

Simplicity is Back!

More and more we find designs moving toward simple straight lines. When we talked about the difference between contemporary and modern design last time we discussed that they overlap quite often. Modern design is relative to the 50's and 60's design time frame which focused more on simple straight clean lines.

Clutter is out and simple is in. Just look at this image. This living room is very beautiful and mainly neutral in the color scheme. Every piece is designed for smoothness of surfaces and no flashiness. The owner of this living space has chosen to add accent throw pillows to add color.

What's your favorite accent colors? .... Greens Are In!

Right now I'm finding turquoise and aqua as great accent colors. You can find great pieces of furniture and accent pillows in this color scheme. By simply adding a few turquoise accent pillows to a room you can brighten up your space by simply adding a dash of color. In the image below they've even added a more subtle green to go with their turquoise accent decor.

More and more you are finding furniture in turquoise or aqua. You don't want to over do it with everything turquoise. Below you will find a great example. By adding these pieces they've taking an already beautiful room and updated it with new life.
