After having this conversation multiple times I've come down to the fact that it really doesn't matter because we all have a personal preference and that's what really matters. Yes, there are pro's and con's to each one but your home is your space. It's a reflection of your personality. It's the place where you need to be the most relaxed and vulnerable. If you can't be comfortable in your own home where can you be?
Well this particular conversation quickly turned to I will never have carpet in my home. They've come to the conclusion that having kids was not conducive to having carpet ever. Now, I was raised with carpet in the home my entire life and do not have a probably with it.
For me personally it really depends on the room. While hardwood flooring looks great in the living room and dining room I prefer carpet in the bedrooms. The great thing about hardwood flooring is that you can add an area rug to the room which allows comfort and a splash of accent.
